ASSESSMENT OF TIMBER CONTRACTORS CONTRIBUTION TO FOREST DEVELOPMENT IN ISEYIN AND OYO EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS, OYO STATE, NIGERIA

Two local government areas in Oyo State, (Iseyin and East) were purposively selected based on the abundance of operational sawmills. Descriptive analysis logistic regression (α0.05) used to analyze data obtained from respondents. The results showed that most respondents (71.3% 81.7%) interviewed male East Iseyin respectively. Respondents (68.8% 79.2%) respectively stated they are members timber contractor’s association their area. In East, 20%, 11.3%, 8.8% 5.5% reported involved planning forest activities, planting seeds seedlings, monitoring laws enforcement formulation policies. Iseyin, 20.8%, 11.7%, 10.8% 9.2% iterated Logistic educational background (0.787) number years business (0.840) had significant influence respondents’ willingness contribute forestry development. study revealed provision financial support, better law proper land management will increase contractors’ contribution
